4 DAYS DESERT TOUR FROM MARRAKECH TO MERZOUGA DESERT

DAY 1: MARRAKECH – HIGH ATLAS – AIT BENHADDOU – OUARZAZATE – DADES VALLEY

At Marrakech we will pick you up from wherever you prefer airport, hotel or riad . Our ultimate destination is to reach Ouarzazat the giant gate of Sahara  . before we’ll be stopping along the way to enjoy the road , while driving we’ll be passing by the gorgeous and picturesque landscapes of High Atlas Mountains , berber towns such as Taddert  . we’ll also be driving over the mountain pass Tizi n Tichka its high could reach 2260 m so better buckle up your seat belt .our first stop will be at the dignifying monument of the south Kasbah Ait Benhadou which by the way is only 30 km away from OUarzazat . the Kasbah is world heritage site acclaimed by the UNesco , and is a typical southern home from the 17th century .after getting to know this place we’ll be heading towards the African Hollywood , Ouarzazat . We will arrive to Dades valley in which we are willing to spend the night in.

 

DAY 2 : DADES VALLEY – TODRA GORGES – ERFOUD – MERZOUGA ERG CHEBBI DUNES

      For the second day we will start off with a yummy breakfastand then drive via the road of thousand Kasbahs, which extends from Dades to Merzouga, filled with Kasbahs from the 17th century, giant palm groves and beautiful mountainous background. It is also where nomads herd their beasts. We will stop at Todgha gorges to have lunch in the charming nature. Its rocks change colors throughout the day and it is amazing to witness it. At around 5 or 4 pm we will arrive to Merzouga where camels will be waiting for us to take us to the nomad tents. We will spend the night in the heart of desert.

 

DAY 3 : SAHARA DESERT– RISSANI – DRAA VALLEY – OUARZAZATE

Make sure not to miss the spectacular sunrise over the golden high dunes of Sahara. After that we will go back to the hotel , shower and have breakfast. Then we will drive to Rissani which was once the capital of Tafilalt region, also a very important trade center. It was founded at around 757 by the great Arab leader Moussa Ben Nasser, the region was considered important for trade because it laid on the length of the sahel Europe trade route, people were trading gold, and many goods. Besides it contains some major archeological sites like the roman ruins between the village and the river. It also contains an exquisite Kasbah built by Moulay Ismail which unfortunately had been destroyed by Ait Atta tribe in 1818.  The region is rich of history, it used also to be the home for the current ruling dynasty the Alaouits before they gained the Moroccan territory in the 17th century. After exploring a little bit of  history and south Moroccan culture. Through the road that extends from Ouarzazat to Zagora ,which is by the way absolutely marvelous. first winding its way across the jbelAnaouar Mountains , and then down along the Draa Valley , a Strip of intense cultivation and a band of vivid colour weaving through the Desert. Along the way numerous reddish Kasbahs and villages are willing to marvel you. We will continue to the Draa Valley which was one of the longest Rivers in North West Africa . we will stop at Ouarzazat today have dinner and stay the night in.

DAY 4 : OUARZAZATE – TELOUET – MARRAKECH

   In the morning we will visit the dignifying sites of Ouarzazat. The last is often used as a filming location for several movies. Also Ait Benhadou is a very famous filming location gained its fame when it hosted the Lawrence of the Arabia. We will stop at Taliouet, located in the peek of mountain. Is is also the most famous Kasbah in Morocco for its unique location. We will arrive to Marrakech late afternoon.
