6 Days From Marrakech to Fez Via Merzouga Desert

DAY 1 : MARRAKESH / OUARZAZATE.

Our team will make sure to pick you up on time whether you prefer from your hotel ,riad,airport or railway station . And then our journey begins with us driving aver the south eastern roads towards the marvelous atlas mountains in which you could enjoy watching the altitude of the mountain pass “Tizi n Tishka” (which is about 2260 m) on the way you will be able to gaze at laborious farmers harvesting wheat ,vegetables…,while shepherds herd their beasts , after a while we will stop at the famous and signifying “kasbah Ait ben haddou “ a castle that was built centuries ago by Berbers , it serves now as a filming location for several Hollywood and international movies such as the Lawrence of the Arabia , the mummy ,babel, and prince of Persia. After exploring this grand and majestically beautiful monument we will explore another Kasbah “Tourirt”, it gained its fame when the Glaoui family took it as a home for them. Its painted ceilings, the incredible Moorish-andalus sculpture and architecture always marvels its visitors. You will have the local guide who is willing to tell the story of Bacha el Glaoui you will enjoy a private visit of the Atlas Corporation Studio, a well –known cinematographic filming location for major blockbuster productions including Asterix and Cleopatre directed by Alain Chabat; and the Oscar-wining Gladiator, directed by Ridley Scott. Overnight accommodation will be at the hotel or riad in Ouarzazate.

DAY 2:OUARZAZATE – SKOURA – KALAAT MGOUNA – DADES GORGE – TODRA GORGE.

We will depart Ouarzazat and drive through the 1000 Kasbahs and Kelaat Mgouna. The fascinating village is famous for its floral productions as each year an annual festival is held in May to celebrate the harvest. After that we will continue driving to Boulmane Dades to admire the rocks that are shaped like monkey fingers, and also explore the 19th century Kasbah of Ait Yul. While we continue the road we will pass by numerous berber villages made of mud houses. We will stop at Todgha gorges to wander in its narrow and high gorges (300 m). Its  rocks’ color changes beautifully through the day. Your guide will lead you to the palm road for about 90 min where many rock climbers tend to enjoy their favorite hobby. As for your overnight accommodation you will stay at a guesthouse.

DAY 3: TODRA GORGE -ERFOUD – RISSANI – MERZOUGA (CAMEL SAFARI).

Today we will stop at both Erfoud and Rissani we will have lunch in there and continue our journey. We will drive to Merzouga where will find camels that are willing to take us to our nomad tents that are located in the heart of desert. You will spend the night in one of the nomad tents and have a traditional dinner in a very charming atmosphere, accompanied with berber music and enjoy the fascinating sky.

DAY 4:MERZOUGA- ERG CHEBBI TOUR( GNAWA MUSIC-VISIT MINES, BLACK DESERT, NOMAD PEOPLE-MERZOUGA).

Make sure to wake up early so as to enjoy watching sunrise in Moroccan desert. We will today drive in the outskirts of Merzouga. We will encounter Gnawa people, get to know their culture, their lifestyle tips in Sahara. You can exercise your photography skills in the vast seas of sand and the high sand dunes. We will make a short stop at Mirdani an ancient ruined village and also stop at Mfis famous for its Coal mine, which provides jobs for the men in the area. We will continue as we stop at Kem Kem village, which consists of nomad tents, you will encounter its inhabitants and enjoy a little chitchat. If you are interested we could also visit the Tissardmine Fossils and its oasis. And as evening approaches  we will be found in the hotel .

DAY 5: MERZOUGA-VALLEY ZIZ-MEDILT .

After having breakfast in Merzouga we will continue this travel to Midelt through Errachidia, on the way you can overlook the wonderful Ziz Gorges carved through volcanic rocks. We will also drive by Tizi n Talghamt mountain pass. We will psend the night in Midelt before we arrive to Fez.
